Rather strangely there are many different areas of your system where a volume level can be set, each one can have an adverse effect on the overall volume of the music file or video track coming out of your speakers. Of course we’re not talking about turning the dial up to 11, but the fact that even though your speaker or headphone controls might be up high, or your laptop doesn’t seem to go any louder, you’re still struggling to get a decent level of volume. Although there shouldn’t be any problems most of the time, one area where many people encounter an issue is with the sound of the music or video soundtrack not playing as loudly as they would like. The person who proposed it as a solution (boju) is a hero and should receive a medal I'm so glad I finally found that solution in this forum! But it took me much precious time to find it.
And the solution was very concisely and very simply presented, and this is not obvious at all, so it's a highly useful trick to know. This solution should be highlighted, moved up this thread and posted in full view of everybody struggling with the same issue. Click Apply to save the change and then click OK in all remaining windows and see if this has helped at all. Click the Enhancements tab and put a tick in the box next to 'Loudness Equalization'. Left click the default device once to highlight it ( it's usually 'speakers & headphones' ) then click the Properties button. Right click the speaker icon in the Taskbar and select 'Playback Devices'.
